Dear Jonathan, Thank you for your prompt and informative reply. From the 1890 marriage lines of Henry B and Annie Dyason, his father's name is given as Edward with a profession of Sergeant in the 21 Fusiliers. Henry B also gives his age as 25 which would indicate a birth date of 1865 which is slightly at odds with 1863. Family lore has it that Edward and his wife had a number of multiple births and that his soldiering duties took him to India. It is also believed that Catherine died in childbirth and that he took a second wife. However, I am unable to substantiate these believes. It may be worth tracking Edward through the Muster Rolls of the 21st Foot or Royal North British Fuziliers as they were known at the time or has someone already done this? I've worked up our branch of the family tree and hope it may link us with other members of our line who seem to have become 'lost'. Brinds, in my experience, have not always been the best communicators even amongst themselves so it's very nice to know that there is someone who can possibly remake these connections. All my immediate family are very interested in finding out their genealogy. To date I have never met anyone outside the immediate family with our surname and have only seen it in print for Harry Brind at the Oval cricket ground and Bryony Brind the ballet dancer. To my knowledge there is only my son with the surname to carry it on-- I hope we are not heading for extinction. I don't know how detailed your records are Jonathan but if you should need further details or copies of what little documentation I have pleas do not hesitate to ask. Kind regards, Neville. |
